Serving Oceanside

Close to home, without a sign on your street.

Let's be straight with you: Coastal Therapy Group does not have an office in Oceanside. What we have is better than a placeholder address on a strip mall. We have two established offices that border the city, in Carlsbad Village and in Vista, and most Oceanside residents reach one of them in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Every clinician you'd meet holds a doctorate in psychology. That's not a line about the diplomas on the wall. It means thousands of hours of supervised clinical training, real depth in assessment and diagnosis, and treatment shaped around the person in the room, not a pre-set protocol.

And if the drive is the thing standing in your way, it doesn't have to be. Every therapist here also works online, anywhere in California, so you can start from your living room and add in-person visits whenever it suits you.

Two offices, both next door

Which one is closer depends on you.

Oceanside is a big city, from the harbor to the back gate of Camp Pendleton to the hills of Ocean Hills. Where you live usually decides which office is the quick one.

01

Coastal & south Oceanside

Carlsbad Village

If you're near the coast, in South Oceanside, or by the harbor, our Carlsbad office is the easy one: straight down Coast Highway or the 5 to State Street in the heart of Carlsbad Village, usually 10 to 15 minutes. It's a suite that has been a therapy office since 1978, with a private waiting room and a private exit.

2564 State Street, Suite B · Free street parking · Individual & couples therapy, our grief group, and testing intakes

See the office →
02

Inland & the 76 corridor

Vista, off the 78

If you're inland, up the 76, or over toward Rancho del Oro and Ocean Hills, our Vista office is usually closer: a quick hop over to the 78 and off at Mar Vista, about 15 minutes, with not a single stop sign between the freeway and the parking lot. It's our largest office and home to our group program and psychological testing suite.

1800 Thibodo Road, Suite 110 · Free parking right outside · Individual, couples & group therapy, plus full testing

Not sure which is closer, or want the drive to be zero? On a free 15-minute call, Kari, our care coordinator, matches you with the right therapist first, then the office (or the screen) that actually fits your week.

Why people come

You don't need the perfect words to reach out.

People rarely come to therapy with a tidy diagnosis in hand. They come because something isn't working. Some of what brings Oceanside clients to us:

  • 01 Anxiety that hums underneath everything, even the good days
  • 02 Depression, numbness, or a flatness you can't quite explain
  • 03 A relationship where the same argument keeps coming back around
  • 04 Grief, recent or the kind you never really got to have
  • 05 The particular strain of military and deployment life on a family
  • 06 Wondering whether ADHD, autism, or a learning difference has been part of the story all along
  • 07 No crisis at all, just a desire to grow and become a better version of yourself

If you see yourself somewhere on this list, or you don't and you just know something needs to change, that's enough to start. Our care coordinator will help you figure out the rest.

What we offer

Ways to do the work.

01

Individual therapy

Weekly, one-on-one work with a therapist who gets to know you, not just your symptoms. Our clinicians work with kids, teens, and adults on anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, identity, and the patterns that keep repeating.

02

Couples therapy

When communication has broken down or the distance has crept in, couples therapy is a place to slow down and look at what's happening underneath. We use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and relational approaches to help partners find their way back to each other.

03

Child & teen therapy

Kids and teens carry more than they can always put into words. Several of our clinicians specialize in younger clients, on anxiety, school stress, big feelings, family change, and identity, with parents kept in the loop the whole way.

04

Psychological testing

When you need answers, not another guess. We evaluate ADHD, autism, learning differences, and personality. Full testing days happen at our Vista suite; intakes, feedback sessions, and some shorter testing days can happen in Carlsbad.

Oceanside clients also come to us for anxiety, depression, trauma work & EMDR, teen therapy, and grief. Testing covers ADHD, autism, learning & academic functioning, and personality.

Couples & marriage counseling

For Oceanside couples, and the ones trying to be.

Marriage counseling and couples therapy are two of the most common reasons Oceanside partners reach out to us, whether it's the same argument on a loop, distance that crept in slowly, a betrayal to work through, or a deployment that changed the shape of things at home.

Several of our doctoral-level clinicians specialize in relationship work, using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and other relational approaches to help partners slow down, understand what's happening underneath, and find their way back to each other. You can meet in person in Carlsbad or Vista, or online anywhere in California.

Explore couples therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy

EFT

A structured, well-researched approach to helping couples move out of the same painful cycle and back toward each other.

Our approach

We're interested in what's underneath.

Coastal Therapy Group is a relational, psychodynamic practice. In plain terms: we take the time to truly know you, not just manage your symptoms. We're interested in the patterns underneath, where they came from, what they've been protecting, and what it would take for them to loosen their grip.

That kind of work happens in a relationship. Your therapist won't be a blank screen or a cheerleader. They'll be a real person: present, honest, and rooting for you, helping you understand yourself in a way that actually lasts. Understanding, not just coping.

Where Oceanside sits

Closer than you think.

Oceanside sits right at the top of our map. Carlsbad is directly south along the coast, and Vista is a short jog inland toward the 78. Both borders touch Oceanside, which is why most of the city reaches one office or the other in about 10 to 15 minutes.

So don't pick an office first. Pick up the phone. Kari matches you with the right therapist, then the location that fits your week, whether that's Carlsbad, Vista, or online from home.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about therapy in Oceanside.

01 Do you have an office in Oceanside?

No, and we'd rather be straight about that than pretend otherwise. Coastal Therapy Group sees Oceanside clients at our two nearest offices, both a short drive away: Carlsbad Village at 2564 State Street, Suite B, and Vista at 1800 Thibodo Road, Suite 110. Both border Oceanside, and most Oceanside residents reach one of them in about 10 to 15 minutes. Every therapist here also sees clients online anywhere in California.

02 Which office is closer to me?

It depends on where in Oceanside you live. If you're near the coast, in South Oceanside, or by the harbor, our Carlsbad Village office is usually the quickest, about 10 to 15 minutes down Coast Highway or the 5. If you're inland, up the 76, or toward Rancho del Oro and Ocean Hills, our Vista office off the 78 is often closer, about 15 minutes with easy free parking. On your free call, Kari will help you pick whichever fits your week.

03 Do you offer couples therapy or marriage counseling for Oceanside?

Yes. Couples therapy and marriage counseling are among the most common reasons Oceanside couples reach out, and several of our doctoral-level clinicians specialize in relationship work using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and other relational approaches. You can meet in person in Carlsbad or Vista, or online anywhere in California. Read more on our couples therapy page.

04 Do you work with military and veteran families?

Oceanside is a military town, and a lot of the families we see are connected to Camp Pendleton in one way or another. You're welcome here. We're a private-pay, out-of-network practice rather than a TRICARE provider, so we're not the right fit for everyone, but we can talk it through honestly on your free consultation call, including how superbills and out-of-network reimbursement work.

05 Do you offer psychological testing for Oceanside residents?

Yes. We evaluate ADHD, autism, learning differences, and personality for kids, teens, and adults. Full testing days happen in the dedicated assessment suite at our Vista office, and intakes, feedback sessions, and some shorter testing days can happen at our Carlsbad office. We coordinate the whole process from your first call.

06 Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Every one of our therapists also sees clients via secure telehealth, anywhere in California. For a lot of Oceanside clients, especially with work schedules or young kids at home, online is the easiest way to start. Many mix in-person and online depending on the week.

07 Do you take insurance, and how much does it cost?

Our standard fee ranges from $230 to $300 per 45-minute session, depending on the therapist. We're a private-pay, out-of-network practice: we provide detailed superbills you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement, and many clients with PPO plans are reimbursed for a meaningful portion of their sessions. You can find current rates on our Cost + Info page.

08 Are your therapists licensed psychologists?

Every clinician who would see you holds a doctorate in psychology: a PhD or PsyD. Most are licensed psychologists, and our team also includes doctoral-level postdoctoral fellows practicing under supervision. In every case that means thousands of hours of supervised clinical training and real depth in assessment and diagnosis. And if credentials matter to you, they matter to us too: ask Kari anything on your free consultation call.

09 How do I get started?

Call or text us at (760) 334-6262, email info@coastaltherapygroup.com, or fill out the contact form on our Get Started page. Kari, our care coordinator, will learn what you're looking for, match you with a therapist, and schedule a free 15-minute consultation. Most new clients are in session within a week of that call.
