Since 2018

Where it all began.

Dr. Kessler opened this suite on Saxony Road in 2018 as Coastal Therapy Group's first home. Dr. Robertson joined that November — two psychologists sharing one office, building something they believed in. That early, side-by-side collaboration set the tone for the practice CTG has become: doctoral-level clinicians who actually like working together, and who go deeper than surface-level check-ins.

The practice has since grown to three offices across North County, but the Encinitas suite is still where it started, still seeing clients from Encinitas, Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and Carlsbad.

One practice, three offices

All closer than they seem.

Our three offices form a triangle over coastal North County: Carlsbad Village, Encinitas on Saxony Road, and Vista just off the 78. No two are more than about twenty minutes apart, and most of the area we serve lives inside that triangle.

Carlsbad is ten minutes up the coast. And Vista, home to our largest office, our group program, and our testing suite, is easier than most people expect: straight out the 78 to the Mar Vista exit, with not a single stop sign between the freeway and our parking lot.

So don't pick an office first. Pick up the phone. On a free 15-minute call, Kari, our care coordinator, matches you with the right therapist first, then the location that actually fits your week, whether that's here, up the coast, off the 78, or online.

Small on purpose.

A quiet suite on Saxony Road, up the hill from Encinitas Boulevard — private, comfortable, and built for the kind of deep, unhurried work that defines the practice. Easy parking, garden courtyard, no waiting-room crowd.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about therapy in Encinitas.

01 Do you offer in-person therapy in Encinitas?

Yes. Our Encinitas office is on Saxony Road, just up the hill from Encinitas Boulevard. We offer in-person individual therapy and couples therapy here in a private, comfortable setting — and telehealth throughout California.

02 Is this the original Coastal Therapy Group location?

Yes. The Encinitas office on Saxony Road is where Coastal Therapy Group began in 2018. Dr. Kessler opened this location as the practice's founding home, and Dr. Robertson joined shortly after in November 2018. It remains an active and welcoming part of our practice today.

03 I'd prefer to work with a female therapist. Is that an option?

Absolutely. Encinitas is our smallest suite, just two therapists, but most of our doctoral-level team, including several female therapists, practices minutes away at our Carlsbad and Vista offices, and everyone offers telehealth. On your free consultation call, Kari, our care coordinator, will match you with the right therapist first, then figure out the most convenient office.

04 What types of therapy do you offer in Encinitas?

We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and Insight Sessions in Encinitas. Our therapists work from a depth-oriented, insight-focused approach to help clients better understand emotional patterns, relationships, and life challenges. Telehealth sessions are also available for clients throughout California.

05 Do you offer psychological testing in Encinitas?

Comprehensive psychological testing (including ADHD and autism evaluations) is conducted at our Vista office, which has a dedicated assessment suite, and we coordinate the whole process from your first call. What we do offer in Encinitas is Insight Sessions: a focused, three-session psychological assessment (a clinical intake, a single robust psychological assessment, and a feedback session) that brings clarity to patterns in mood, personality, coping, and cognition.

06 Do you offer group therapy in Encinitas?

Our therapy groups meet at our Vista and Carlsbad offices — process groups, DBT skills, and more in Vista, and our grief group in Carlsbad. Both are a short drive from Encinitas, and joining a group starts with the same free consultation call.

07 Do you offer therapy for anxiety in Encinitas?

Yes. Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people reach out to our Encinitas office. Our approach to anxiety therapy is depth-oriented: we help you understand where the anxiety comes from and what keeps it going, not just manage the symptoms. Sessions are available in person on Saxony Road and online throughout California.

08 Do you offer trauma therapy or EMDR in Encinitas?

Yes. Working through trauma, including relational trauma, is some of the deepest work we do, and our depth-oriented approach is built for it. You can read more about trauma therapy on our site. The wider Coastal Therapy Group team also includes clinicians trained in EMDR, and Kari can match you with the right fit on your free consultation call.

09 Do you take insurance, and how much does it cost?

Our standard fee ranges from $230 to $300 per 45-minute session, depending on the therapist. We're a private-pay, out-of-network practice: we provide detailed superbills you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement, and many clients with PPO plans are reimbursed for a meaningful portion of their sessions. You can find current rates on our Cost + Info page.

10 Do you prescribe medication?

No. We're a therapy and psychological assessment practice: every clinician holds a doctorate in psychology, and psychologists don't prescribe medication in California. Many of our clients see a psychiatrist or primary-care doctor for medication alongside therapy, and we're glad to coordinate care and provide referrals.

11 Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Both of our Encinitas therapists also see clients via secure telehealth, anywhere in California. Some clients meet in person weekly, some are fully online, and many mix the two depending on their week.

12 Are your Encinitas therapists licensed psychologists?

Both clinicians at our Encinitas office hold doctorates in psychology. Dr. Kessler, our founder, is a licensed psychologist, and Dr. Noe is a doctoral-level postdoctoral fellow practicing under supervision. Across the practice, every clinician holds a PhD or PsyD: thousands of hours of supervised clinical training and real depth in assessment and diagnosis.

13 Who do you work with in Encinitas?

Our Encinitas therapists work with adults, teens, and couples. Many clients seek support for anxiety, depression, relationship strain, ADHD, identity concerns, and significant life transitions — and come from Encinitas, Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and Carlsbad.

14 How do I get started?

Call or text us at (760) 334-6262, email [email protected], or fill out the contact form on our Get Started page. Kari, our care coordinator, will learn what you're looking for, match you with a therapist, and schedule a free 15-minute consultation. Most new clients are in session within a week of that call.
